Rasoul Mozhdeh‑Shafagh, spokesperson for the Pasta Employers’ Association, commented on the 31% increase in pasta prices, saying the rise is driven by factors such as higher packaging, transportation, wages, and overhead costs, and is independent of wheat prices.
According to AgroFoodNews, quoting Mehr News Agency, Mozhdeh‑Shafagh said the roughly 31% increase in pasta prices is due to increases in packaging, transport, labor, and overhead costs, not the price of wheat.
He added that the government plans to supply wheat to pasta manufacturers at 17,000 tomans until the end of Ordibehesht (approximately late May), after which the Cabinet and the Market Regulation Headquarters will make further decisions on the matter.
The spokesperson also noted that in recent days the cost of cellophane film has risen sharply, significantly affecting the final cost of the product.
Accordingly, the price of a 500‑gram pack of pasta will rise from 54,600 tomans to 71,800 tomans, and a 700‑gram pack will increase from 57,000 tomans to 75,000 tomans
